With the season of thanks upon us, most are reflective about all they have and are grateful for. While that is wonderful, wouldn’t it be even better to be in a state of thanksgiving always? The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for.” —Zig Ziglar So, we want to take advantage of the season and share several ways you can be in a state of thanksgiving all year long. Here are 7 ways you can do it:

1.       Say thank you more

This seems small but just the act of expressing thanks adds happiness to your life, you become more reflective about things to be thankful for, and people will enjoy being around you and helping you. Being thankful doesn’t always have to be shown in grand gestures.

2.       Don’t compare yourself to others

Instead of looking to other people’s circumstances, life events and achievements to validate your own, rely on yourself and look inward for validation. This will bring more positivity and confidence into your life.

3.       Stay Humble

It can be easy to take pride in the things you do and accomplish and it’s not always a dreadful thing. But assuming, boasting and putting yourself above others can ensue low self-esteem and people not wanting to be around you.

4.       Give Back

Volunteering is a great way to express thanks. By being involved in the community, neighborhood, church group, or educational organization you will add value to the place you call home. Volunteering is also a great way to make new friends and connection.

5.       Speak Positively

This can be hard at times, especially when you feel down or frustrated. However, the way you speak in your mind and vocally can make a difference in your life and for those around you. While it’s perfectly normal to have a bad day, try your hardest to speak good words.

6.       Go Outside

The outdoors is always good for morale and perspective. By spending time outside, you allow yourself to reset and see the beauty around you.

7.       Take time every day to reflect

Whether you write in a journal, meditate, or talk about your day with a friend or family member, take time every day to remember what you did, the things you accomplished, or things that brought you joy. Before you know it, you will find something about each day to be thankful for.
